Fishing Report - September 10, 2018

With summer over, we are seeing glimpses of cooler weather and fall rain which has brought some fresh salmon up the tributaries.  Local tribs like Bronte Creek, Credit River and Niagara River are starting to see steady numbers of King Salmon running.

Most anglers run fresh roe bags or artificials such as beads, single eggs, and flies to catch the shallow water monsters.

Lake Erie still continues to be on fire for walleye.  From Port Maitland past Nanticoke has been catching big fish in approximately 65 feet of water.  Most fish are coming on worm harnesses or copper back trolling spoons.

The Grand River and Lake Erie continue to be stellar fisheries.  Smallmouth Bass, Pickerel and Sheepshead are plentiful this time of year.  Smallmouth Bass are plentiful in closer to shore.  They should start to put the fall feed bag on.  You can even catch smallies in kayaks this time of year, weather permitting.

The changing season should bring some great fresh fishing opportunites.
