Fishing Report - December 1, 2018

With ice fishing right around the corner, these frigid temps have made the local trout fishing really good. The colder water temperatures get the trout moving into river mouths and creeks.

Local fisheries like Niagara River, Port Dalhousie, Bronte Creek and the Grand River have been fishing excellent.  They all offer great Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout fishing.  If you are brave enough to wade the tributaries, float fishing is a great way to to catch these beauties on roe bags, artificial worms and minnows.   Check the regulations or extended or year long seasons, some trout streams close on September 30th.   There are a lot of extended season around the further north right to Georgian Bay tributaries.

If you prefer to shore fish, the Niagara River and Port Dalhousie are great this time of year.   Usually the best way to fish them is on a bottom bouncing rig with a minnow or roe bag or bait.

3 Way Rig

Fishing these tributaries offer a great way to get on the water until the hard water season which seems like it is coming sooner than later.

Some of the Lakes in the near north are starting to get a layer of ice already.  Until the hard water starts - tight lines everyone.
