Fishing Report - April 21, 2018

Finally it looks like mother nature has said good bye to winter.   Although it left with a bang, the last 2 weeks was really quiet for quality fishing.  It left a lot of spots in rough shape for water clarity and debris. These warmer temps have started to produce some better fishing......FINALLY

Spring Kings are slowly showing up on Lake Ontario shorelines.   Spring chinooks and brown trout are starting to show life trolling body baits in 20 feet of water.  Here is a picture of Steve with his first of the year.

On Lake Erie and the Niagara River the Rainbows and Walleye are starting to get going.  Most anglers are taking advantage of the open season on Lake Erie for big walleye.  Rainbow trout have been heating up as well on the Niagara River with the ice almost gone now.

If you prefer to fish smaller creeks and inland areas for trout, the season opens for trout on April 28 this year.  Some of the northern spots may still have ice on them like Algonquin park.  Most local creeks should be perfect conditions this year.

Spring Crappie are starting to move in now as well in local tributaries and resevoirs.  These tasty critters are delicious and fun to catch if you can find a school of them feeding in the shallows.

Tight lines everyone.
